Incompetent Chalmers approves deal to reduce banking competition

The most incompetent Treasurer in modern Australian history has approved ANZ Bank’s $4.9 billion takeover of Suncorp’s banking arm.

The enormous deal comes after ANZ successfully overturned the nation’s competition watchdog, the ACCC’s, block on the takeover when the Australian Competition Tribunal approved the transaction.

The takeover will make ANZ the third-largest bank in Australia, overtaking NAB.
