In the wake of the recent assassination of American conservative commentator Charlie Kirk at an event at Utah Valley University, there has been a renewed drive for greater levels of gun control in the United States.

Historically, the push for greater gun control in the U.S. has been accompanied by commentary that America should follow the same gun control path that Australia followed after the 1996 Port Arthur Massacre.

Today, we are going to look at the data relating to Australian and U.S. gun homicides to examine some of the differences between the two nations, both in the present and over time.
